How Edgewick Limited handles personal data on this website.

Last updated

This policy explains what personal data Edgewick Limited (“Edgewick”, “we”, “us”) collects when you visitedgewick.co.uk or get in touch with us, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

It covers this corporate website only. Each of our products has its own privacy policy, published on its own website, which explains how that product uses personal data:

Who we are

The data controller for this website is Edgewick Limited, company number 17545950. Our registered office is 11 Low Golden Smithies, Swinton, United Kingdom, S64 8DF.

You can contact us about this policy or your personal data at [email protected].

What we collect

When you visit this website

This website is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, no forms, no analytics and no advertising, and we do not set cookies or use similar tracking technologies.

Like any website, our hosting provider receives technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser’s user agent. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and protect it against abuse. Our hosting provider may also set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to tell genuine visitors apart from automated traffic.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to tell us in your message and any attachments.

How and why we use it

We only use personal data where the law allows. Specifically:

  • To run and secure this website, using technical request data. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable, secure website.
  • To reply to your enquiry and keep a record of our correspondence. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us or, where your enquiry relates to a contract with us, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping records or responding to lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run the business, acting on our instructions and under contracts that require them to protect it. For this website, these are:

  • Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts and delivers this website.
  • Our email provider, which stores and delivers the email we send and receive.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers where necessary.

International transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure the transfer is protected, for example by relying on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

How long we keep it

  • Technical request data is kept by our hosting provider for a short period in line with its own retention policies.
  • Correspondence is kept for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and then deleted, unless we need to keep it longer to meet a legal obligation or to establish or defend a legal claim.

How we protect it

This website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. We limit access to personal data to those who need it and use reputable providers with appropriate security measures.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • ask us to transfer your data to another organisation, where this applies.

These rights are not absolute and some only apply in certain circumstances. To exercise any of them, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month, and there is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change how this website works. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
